The Leopard's Spots become Clearer

It walks like a dictator, and talks like one - it is surprising how little coverage this seems to get on the news here this morning.

Several bloggers have pointed to it - this post from Boing Boing is perhaps the saddest in a way.

Sadly it will take years for things to get so bad in Venezuela that much will be done about this clown. After all, look at Zimbabwe.

Don't be silly. The license was not renewed for the station because they continually lied, presented objectionable (sexual) material, and were generally worse than FOX News in the US. In the old days, US stations had to serve the public good as well, but the fairness doctrine was killed by the republicans. When the Bush-led coup of Chavez took place, this station refused to even cover it as news. Do some fact-checking before you weep over the death of a CIA propaganda outlet, oh boo hoo.

It's likely my position on licence renewals is more absolute than yours. They certainly opposed Chavez, which pretty much all our Canadian media do here wrt the current government. I think many of your other charges apply as well.
There is a lively debate, including people arguing just as you do over in the commetns at this post - please join in there!
